The Tony Garnier hall on a magnificent 17,000 m2 site is a modular hall of multiple uses. It can host concerts (Ben Harper, Placebo, Benabar, Muse, Renaud, George Michael, Diam’s, etc.), operas and shows (Carmen, Aida, Bharati, etc.), as well as trade shows and exhibitions.
Built in 1914, this Hall bearing the name of its architect, housed the International Exhibition of 1914, and then served as an armaments factory during the First World War as well as a military hospital, finally ending up as the slaughterhouse cattle market in 1928. Saved from being demolished and listed as a Historical Monument in 1975, it was only in 1988 that the Hall was fully renovated for the purpose of hosting varied events. It was renovated a second time in 1999-2000.
The Tony Garnier Hall is now the largest covered space without pillars in Europe and has a large-scale metal roof structure.
